Apply NowMECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 2010 with the inception of the Institute to produce engineers of high quality in the branch of Mechanical Engineering. The Department provides B.Tech in Mechanical engineering under Himachal Pradesh Technical University and aspires to produce quality professionals to contend worldwide and excel by carrying out research applications in the relevant areas. The department has high-quality laboratories in areas of Heat & Mass Transfer, Fluid mechanics &Turbo Machines, Automobile, I.C engine, Manufacturing, Computer-Aided Designs etc. Mechanical Engineering (ME) is fully based on the term “Mechanism”. The Mechanism is about the concept on which the law of physics, material science, environment condition and mathematics are involved in the design, production, manufacturing and maintenance.
ABOUT DEPARTMENT
Our vision is to provide the academic environment of excellence, leadership, ethical guidelines & lifelong learning needed for the long productive career. Through the magnificence of its kind, the Department of Mechanical Engineering of HIET perceived as a pioneer of its control in a way that represents the land-grant traditions of learning, revelation, and commitment. The department an alluring spot to study and work, with our community containing the best and the most splendid, in light of research and instructive projects grounded in the mechanical engineering sciences and has been set inside the context of meeting critical societal requirements.
We have a mission to build up Industry Oriented Manpower to understand the challenges and potentials by:
- Encouraging them to research and development.
- Imparting knowledge of mechanical engineering through qualified and trained faculty.
- Overall personality development like communication and interpersonal skills & leadership qualities.
Mechanical Engineering is an engineering branch that combines engineering physics & mathematics principles with material science, to design, analyze, manufacture & maintain mechanical systems. The department is highly motivated to create technocrat society which could encourage logical thinking.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The statistical content of a mechanical engineering course opens up a wide range of opportunities in the private as well as government sectors. If you are interested in machinery, functions, robotics, material science, micro devices, weapons design, aircraft, watercraft, and their manufacturing, then mechanical engineering is the best choice to prove your ability & interest . Some job options are listed below: Automobile Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineer, Production Engineer, Quality Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Designer Engineer, Designing Engineer, and Operational Engineer.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
WHAT IS IT ABOUT
Mechanical engineering deals with understanding how things work, from the tiniest micro-particle to the largest spacecraft, and even the human body—one of our most complex machines. It is the broadest of all engineering disciplines, and interdisciplinary work is key to our department’s success.
FUTURE IN PROGRAMME
The scope of growth and career advancement of mechanical engineers in India and abroad are spectacular. Skilled mechanical engineers have many opportunities in aerospace, automobile, chemical manufacturing plants, oil exploration, railway coach factory, research, and development.
SPECIALISATION AREA OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Mechanical Engineering students typically specialize in one of five areas: Fluid Mechanics, Machine Design and Solid Mechanics, Materials Engineering and Processing, Automation and Control, or Thermal Engineering.
LABORATORIES
Fluid Mechanics Lab, Heat Transfer Lab, Theory of Machines Lab, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Lab, CAD/ Auto CAD (Computer Aided Design) Lab, Automobile /IC Engine Lab, Strength of Material Lab, Mechanical Workshop.
