Electrical Engineering Department, established in the year 2010 is one of the oldest departments of HIET,Shahpur. The department has been imparting quality education at Mechanical B.Tech aspirants. The faculty members has been active in teaching and research activities. The course curriculum is being revised from time to time so as to keep abreast with the latest developments and emerging technologies. Various departmental laboratories have been strengthened and modernized by procuring state of art equipments.

The department is equipped with the latest experimental and computational facilities for taking up R&D and consultancy activities in different areas of electrical engineering. Electrical engineers design, develop, test electrical equipment such as electric motors, Radar and navigation systems and power generation equipment.
Electrical & Electronics Engineering is a growing and one of the most sought discipline in the field of engineering study. Electrical Engineers also design the electrical systems of automobiles and aircraft. The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been playing a vital role in producing technologists of highest caliber ever since it was established in the year 2010. The department runs undergraduate to cater the ever-challenging needs of technical excellence in all areas of electrical engineering. In addition to the strong undergraduate programs such as integrated electronics and circuits, Tele-communications, Computer technology, Control & Automation, Power systems & Power electronics. Power System has been a thrust area in Electrical Engineering. But with the advent of Power Electronics devices, the contemporary Power System has changed and it took a new phase. The Power Electronics has significant role in various phases of power system. The generation of electric power using alternative/ renewable energy sources has become very popular nowadays. The department has distinguished faculty, all holding degrees from renowned institutes in India like NITTTR, NIT and Thapar University and they are constantly carrying out research on many innovative technologies.
ABOUT DEPARTMENT
The main areas of learning in this program pertain to principles and analysis of equipment and systems use in the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy. Other areas of learning pertain to electronic devices and circuits used in the measurement, instrumentation, control and protection of electrical equipments and conversion systems. Students also learn concepts related to computers and applications for computer based systems used in the design, analysis and operation of power system. Students execute mini-projects in their laboratory courses. They are also encouraged to publish papers in national and international conferences. They are actively engaged in multidisciplinary work on satellites (Studsat), Robotics and MEMS.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Industrial visits and talks by experts are regularly arranged. Students are given rigorous training by Expert Trainers, to enhance their chances of being placed in a reputed/renowned company. Reputed and Eminent companies like IBM, KPIT, Microsoft, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, CapGemini, L&T; Infotech, Sasken, etc. have successfully placed /hired our Students.
