ABOUT DEPARTMENT

The institution has taken the uphill task of promoting Legal education in this region, especially among the younger generation so as to mould them into responsible citizens of the country. Himachal Institute of Legal Studies is promoted by Dhauladhar Educational Society, which is a pioneering organization in this region engaged in promoting and popularizing professional education and inculcating in the ‘new generation’ a spirit of competitiveness and innovativeness, enriching their knowledge and developing self-confidence and thereby make them fit to face challenges in their lives . Institution provide practical environment to the students by organizing plethora by organizing various events such as moot court competitions such as legal awareness programs, guest lectures, court visits etc. 

1.   MOOT COURT  
Moot court is a artificial law for students. Moot courts and mock trials are basic for  advocacy skills. These practical skills include legal reasoning, oral augmentation and effective communication. Participating in these simulation court hearings allows students to make themselves efficient on the field.
 
2. GROUP DISCUSSION 
Group discussion (GD), is the process through which we get new ideas, new knowledge about new positive thoughts for Better understanding of the subject, Solve problems, Improve  listening skills and confidence and it increases the confidence of students.
 
3. SEMINAR’S & DEBATES 
Debate is a most important activity for students of all skill levels and development. Debate teaches useful skills for other academic pursuits and life more generally. Seminars, workshops, and presentations are extremely beneficial to students for their better future. Debate and seminar plays important role in Students life. Since they enable them to evaluate, stay up to date on current events, comprehend concepts, and build their network.
 
4. SPORTS MEETS 
Physical activity has been shown to improve IQ, Fitness, and health. Higher levels of oxygen delivered to the brain increase the mind’s capability. Exercise also promotes neuron development and the release of important hormones for brain health.
 
5. COURT VISITS
It is important to see courts and how the law you are learning in books actually works in real life. We run an annual programme of court visits and mock trials for law students to observe hearings and become familiar with court procedure. These involve visiting a court as part of a group, and in some cases meeting with a Judge! We advertise these visits at the start of each term.
 
6. LIBRARY 
Law libraries contribute to the professional development of legal practitioners to continuing relating legal education materials, practice experience with law civil and criminal journal , and specialized legal publications. These resources assist lawyers in staying abreast of changes in legal regulations, emerging trends, and new case precedents.

But as a profession, it means a lot more and it encompasses various fields such as Judicial services, litigation, media, Intellectual property , armed  forces , civil services , cooperate sectors legal firms , LPO’s , Legal advisor and academics etc. The role of a lawyer in today’s era has completely evolved and moved many moons away from black robes and white collars to swanky corporate offices and jobs in movies and the media. Lawyers are the most sought after people by corporations and individuals, leaving a dearth of lawyers when looked up against the demand. The demand is at its zenith for quality legal professionals at this point of time.

Scope

B.A. LL.B. Integrated is a five-year undergraduate program designed comprehensively to enlighten students with the socio-legal facets of the law. This program encompasses multi-disciplinary subjects like Political Science, History, Sociology, and Economics along with Constitutional Law, Family Law and Criminal Law etc. The integrated program develops student understanding and builds a strong background in the subjects in such a way that they may relate to the social and political aspect of different laws.

Eligibility

Bachelor of Laws [BALLB] is a five year integrated professional degree. Having passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with minimum of 50% on an aggregate from a recognized board, a candidate may apply for this course.
