MASTER OF LAWS (LLM)

Master of Laws being one of the most prestigious, intellectually rigorous, and globally-recognized post-graduate professional programs that deals with advanced legal scholarship, jurisprudence, and specialized statutory frameworks. It serves the global judicial and corporate ecosystems by preparing high-caliber legal experts, corporate counsels, policy makers, and judicial researchers capable of navigating complex constitutional, international, and commercial legal challenges. LLM is an area with a lot of diversity as it includes many high-demand specializations like Corporate and Commercial Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Criminal and Forensic Law, International Trade Law, and Cyber Jurisprudence.

ABOUT DEPARTMENT

The Legal Studies Department’s state-of-the-art moot courts, legal aid clinics, and digital law libraries enable faculty to perform research, legislative drafting, and consultancy activities that contribute to the advancement of jurisprudence while providing real-world litigation experience and advocacy skills for students.

Vision: To develop a vibrant, highly analytical, and ethically grounded legal scholar with emphasis on an up-to-date, globally benchmarked curriculum and provide extensive judicial training to prepare legal professionals for global practice, making them stalwarts of justice to build our nation.

Mission: To produce legal professionals, corporate counsels, and judicial researchers of high caliber, exceptional advocacy skills, and strong constitutional values to serve the judiciary, corporate sectors, and society.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES:

The Legal Studies department organizes weekly activities for students like national-level moot court simulations, legislative drafting challenges, and legal debate competitions based on current socio-legal topics, which will enhance the student’s argumentative skills, statutory interpretation, and legal research methodology.

Our department also organizes professional industrial visits cum educational tours for students to the Honorable Supreme Court, High Courts, District Courts, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and leading corporate law firms to experience real-world courtroom proceedings, alternative dispute resolutions (ADR), and legal corporate operations.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

MOOT COURT & ADVOCACY LAB

Our advanced moot court laboratory provides students with intensive hands-on experience to supplement instructions in appellate advocacy and courtroom etiquette. The laboratory features a fully replicated, realistic courtroom setup equipped with audio-visual recording infrastructure and case briefing tools. Postgraduate students use the laboratory as an integral part of their clinical legal coursework and to practice oral submissions, cross-examinations, and mock trials based on landmark constitutional and commercial cases.

ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION (ADR)

The arbitration and mediation engineering lab is a foundational facility where specialized training on out-of-court settlements and international commercial arbitration is provided. The use of this laboratory allows students to master the complexity associated with conciliation procedures, client counseling, and treaty drafting under highly contentious corporate dispute scenarios. Major infrastructure includes dedicated negotiation chambers, mock arbitration tribunals, and specialized dispute resolution case archives.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & CYBER LAW LAB

The cyber jurisprudence and intellectual property lab is established to train students to carry out technical audits on digital evidence and patent drafting. The training is conducted to build industry-ready skills in terms of cyber-crime analysis, trademark registration processes, copyright enforcement, and data privacy standard tracking. Major software and database tools include modern cyber forensics tools, anti-plagiarism networks, patent search matrices, and updated international IPR compliance registries.

LEGAL RESEARCH & DIGITAL LIBRARY

The department provides a premium legal data processing and digital indexing facility where all the postgraduate law students get professional training on doctrinal and empirical research. Students learn legal matrix scaling, statutory cross-referencing, and case law analytics tracking using latest institutional versions of global legal databases like SCC Online, Manupatra, Westlaw, LexisNexis, and constitutional gazette repositories for comprehensive legal drafting.
